Steve Holcombe's deep roots in Osage County extend back more than 100 years on both sides of his family. His great-grandfather, Marion L. Holcombe, formerly a Judge among the lands of the Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes in southwestern Oklahoma, moved his family to Pawhuska circa 1917 to practice law. Holcombe's paternal grandfather, Thad Holcombe, Sr. (deceased), and his father, Lee Holcombe (deceased), have both served as Presidents of the Osage County Cattlemen's Association. Holcombe's maternal grandfather, Virgil E. Theis (deceased), graduated from the β€œnew” (now razed) Pawhuska High School in 1920, and later served for 33 years as the last Justice of the Peace in Pawhuska. His maternal grandmother, Jessie Mae Theis (deceased), was a longtime Pawhuska elementary school teacher. Holcombe's mother, Janet Theis Holcombe (deceased), was active in the community and served as Mayor of Pawhuska in 1989. A brother, Scot Holcombe, is a prominent stocker operator in Osage County. Steve and his wife, Susie, reside in Pawhuska. Steve Holcombe maintains a full-time, private legal practice, primarily focused on Osage County real estate matters (including litigation over ownership and road disputes), Osage Headright distributions, probates, and business formation, continuity and litigation.
