Re: Grievance against Attorney General Mike Hunter
Dear Ms. Hendryx,
Please accept the filing of this grievance with your office against Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter. I am citizen, voter and resident of the State of Oklahoma claiming that he has violated Rule 3.1 (Meritorious Claims and Contentions of the Oklahoma Rules of Professional Conduct) which states in pertinent part:
A lawyer shall not bring or defend a proceeding, or assert or controvert an issue therein, unless there is a basis in law and fact for doing so that is not frivolous, which includes a good faith argument for an extension, modification or reversal of existing law.
I have no personal attorney/client relationship with Mr. Hunter, but he is employed to publicly serve all citizens of the State of Oklahoma. I also make this filing as a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, No. [XXXX].
My grievance stands on the public record made in the Supreme Court of the United States, No. 22O155, Original, captioned as STATE OF TEXAS, Plaintiff, v. COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, STATE OF GEORGIA, STATE OF MICHIGAN, AND STATE OF WISCONSIN, Defendants.
I claim that Mr. Hunter violated Rule 3.1 when he approved, on behalf of the State of Oklahoma, the BRIEF OF STATE OF MISSOURI AND 16 OTHER STATES AS AMICI CURIAE IN SUPPORT OF PLAINTIFF’S MOTION FOR LEAVE TO FILE BILL OF COMPLAINT.
The matter in No. 220155 was summarily dismissed by the Supreme Court of the United States.
I presume without knowing that I will not have been the first to file a grievance of a similar nature against Mr. Hunter regarding his involvement of the State of Oklahoma in said No. 220155. I would suggest that, given Mr. Hunter’s public position, your office find some manner of informing the public that grievances of this nature have been filed and are being given serious consideration. I would further request that the public be informed of follow-on decisions rendered by your office so that the public may know that your office takes its role in policing the members of the Oklahoma Bar Association very seriously, and that no member of the bar association is above or exempt from the Oklahoma Rules of Professional Conduct.
